Local taxi firm backs the Tall Ships with new livery

Station Taxis today launched new vehicle artwork in support of The Tall Ships Races Sunderland 2018.

Next year a fleet up to 80 ships is expected to arrive at the Port of Sunderland for the event which runs from Wednesday 11 until Saturday 14 July 2018. The ships and their crews will stay for a four-day festival before taking part in a spectacular Parade of Sail along the city’s coastline for the start of the first race to Esbjerg (Denmark).

“I’d like to thank Station Taxis for their continued support for events in the city. This latest initiative is helping spread the word about what is sure to be one of the largest events Sunderland has ever hosted.

“The Tall Ships Races Sunderland 2018 will provide local business with a huge range of opportunities to be involved in supporting the iconic spectacle.

“From sponsoring a sail trainee or hosting a corporate event on the deck of one of these magnificent ships to event promotion and headline sponsor opportunities there is something for businesses of all sizes.

“It is fantastic to see so many businesses already pledging their support and I urge the rest of the business community to join with them to help make this a truly spectacular occasion.”

Councillor John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture

The event is anticipated to bring up to an additional £35m to the local economy with local businesses being best-placed to benefit.

Among businesses already showing their support are, Gentoo, The Bridges Sunderland, Station Taxis and the Port of Sunderland.

“The Tall Ships Races in Sunderland will showcase everything our city has to offer and will be a great boost to the city and the region next summer.”

“We are proud to support the event next year and can see the benefits it will bring not just to us, but to many businesses across the city and wider north east. I encourage any local business to find out more about supporting this phenomenal occasion.”

Trevor Hines, Managing Director of Station Taxis (Sunderland) Ltd
