Station Taxis to attend Sunderland jobs fair

Sunderland’s longest established taxi firm has launched a new recruitment drive with the aim of taking on over 30 new drivers.

Bosses at Station Taxis said more self-employed drivers are needed following an ongoing increase in the demand for their taxis in the area.

Trevor Hines, Managing Director at Station Taxis said: “It is crucial that we have enough drivers to enable us to continue to provide our customers with a reliable, and punctual service – making sure they can always get a taxi whenever they need one”

“We are looking to recruit drivers in the Sunderland area as soon as possible”

“We can provide guidance to anyone who is interested but has never driven a taxi before. We find a large number of people are joining the trade for a career change or after being made redundant. The flexible working hours and uncapped earnings seem to suit a lot of people.”

“Another advantage is that we can help source a vehicle to rent, or drivers are welcome to join our fleet with their own hackney carriage or private hire vehicle”

Trevor Hines, Managing Director at Station Taxis

The taxi operator, which is the largest in Sunderland, already has over 400 self-employed drivers and say there will also be further opportunities likely to become available throughout the year as the company continues to grow.

Mr Hines added, “We are also attending The Job Show™ North East, which will be a great opportunity for anyone who wants to find out more and speak to our existing drivers”

The free-to-enter event, to be held at the Stadium of Light between 10:30am and 3pm on Thursday, May 18.

Director Victoria Clarke said: “We welcome Station taxis to The Job Show™ North East sponsored by MAKE it Sunderland where we will showcase dozens of companies recruiting in a range of sectors – come along and come face –to- face with exhibitors just waiting to meet you.”
