Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations of Sunderland BID, hopes the event will prove a hit with Sunderland residents and those from further afield.

“We have a wide – and expanding – variety of restaurants in Sunderland,” she said, “and we really feel that’s something worth shouting about.

“Our previous Eat Drink Sunderland Restaurant Weeks were hugely successful and we hope this – our third – will be the best yet.

“The fact that so many our venues have signed up to take part again shows how positive it’s been for them and we are also delighted so many new ones have jumped on board.

“We know from the feedback we received that they not only attracted visitors from outside the city but also encouraged Sunderland residents to try new places and revisit favourites.”
