War veteran enjoys trip to Sunderland Illuminations

Last week, local War Veteran George Waller was treated to an evening tour of the Sunderland Illuminations and our seafront courtesy of Station Taxis.

Following on from the success of winning the Age-Friendly Business of the Year award at the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards, we decided to give our regular customer and War Veteran George Waller a VIP trip along the Sunderland Illuminations in Station Taxis Illuminated Taxi.

George, who served in North Africa and Italy during the Second World War was picked up in our Illuminated Taxi and taken on a tour of the Illuminations and the recent improvements across our coastline.

We also took George for visits to Fat Budda, the Promenade and the Marriott. He really enjoyed his night out and was really impressed with the Illuminations!

George was recently featured in the Sunderland Echo.

The Sunderland Illuminations ended on Friday 5th November with a grand finale that lit up the skies. The event held at Cliffe Park and Roker Park since the 24th September has proved to be a success and managed to double visitor numbers since 2014.
